Asteroids
Asteroids are small, rocky objects orbiting the Sun, primarily found in the asteroid belt between Mars and Jupiter. Composed mainly of rock and metals, they vary in size from a few meters to hundreds of kilometers. Unlike planets, asteroids lack atmospheres and are irregular in shape due to insufficient gravity. Scientists study asteroids to learn about the early solar system, as many have remained unchanged since its formation. Occasionally, asteroids approach or impact Earth, influencing planetary history. Notable examples include Ceres, Vesta, and Eros.
