Kinpedia
One of the main aims of the Kinpedia project is to provide a central place on the Internet for kin information about all people we know ever lived, automatically construct bloodline trees, and watch the gradual emergence of global family forest of humanity. It might seem a huge undertaking, but in fact it is not. There is very little information that needs to be entered about any person - just name, names of his/her children, plus birth and death data; everything else can be inferred!
The project was launched on 26. April 2005 as WikiTree.org and quickly became one of the most successful open source projects of Vacilando.
On 16. September 2013 the project changed name to a better fitting Kinpedia.net.
Up to now the system has identified over 9 million biographical entries. Almost three million of them have been synchronized to provide data for automatically constructed family trees.
Platforms used: initially MediaWiki, then Drupal 6 and 7.
